Review: Family Man

Family Man
Family Man by Heidi Cullinan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved everything about this book.

It was just so close to me, my family. I know exactly how Vinnie feels every-time the family gets together, and Rachel for that matter. Italian families work in a funny way, we might not all get along all the time, but if one is hurting, we are all hurting.

That used to creep me out a bit, getting a phone call from a second cousin about this or that, that was going on in my life. As I grew older I learn to take that as family concern and welcome it, need it sometimes, just like Vinnie.

And nothing prepared me to read my RL cousin story in this book. It´s amazing when fiction and reality come together sometimes. And the reading experience turned into a more personal one.

I was trying to pin-point my family members among Vinnie´s LOL

We all reacted differently, that first time we meet my cousin BF, and I know that he had conversations like "do you want me to move away?" with his military brother, or "I thought about ending my life" with his parents. So seeing everything in the form of a book, that turmoil of emotions for Vinnie, that fear of facing the family and be able to live his life fully, had me texting my cousin last night just to say ILY.

A few other things I really liked about this book:

*That even tho they point out the issues with Church, and the catholic upbringing, they don't take it as a political statement, is just the way Vinnie is brought up and doesn´t define him.

*Sex is about love! YES, reading a gay boy who values sex as a connection, intimacy and love. Was sweet and perfect.

*The fight against stereotypes. Vinnie was the macho man, the Italian stallion and he was also a bottom. He never doubt it.

This book brings out the best from these two authors. They are amazing on their own and nothing below that could come out of their collab.

Review: Play Me, I’m Yours

Play Me, I’m Yours
Play Me, I’m Yours by Madison Parker

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

How I adored this book!!! If you loved How to Repair a Mechanical Heart, this is a book for you.
What I liked about Madison´s writing is that she made her boys be boys, teenagers dealing with teens stuff and acting like teens.
Sometimes you read YA books but the MCs voices are "old" for their age.
Here they are fresh, funny, emotional, unsure, they wear their hearts on their sleeves, they are bitchy, jealous, they kiss and make up.
They are growing up, and they dont know how. They learn as they go.
The friendships were strong, the family dynamic was real. A father that takes some time to come around, but as you see him struggle you know he loves Lucas. A mother that is too much on the cooing side, very protective. A brother, just like any other brother, you know how you can do/say anything to your brother´s and sister´s but if someone tries to harm them in any way you could kill them? Well, just like that is Mason. He is dealing with how his brother´s choices will affect his life, but he will not stand and see him get hurt.
Donovan, he just needs a hug. Someone to love him.
Alex, I knew he was going to be my favorite from the start, such a great kid.
And Zach? Well, Zach is our warrior in shinning armour...perfect for Lucas.
I love it, all of it!

Review: Strawberries for Dessert

Strawberries for Dessert
Strawberries for Dessert by Marie Sexton

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WOW... just WOW
Abso-fucking-lutely amazing!!!!
I LOVED Jonathan, I LOVED Cole.
They are just perfect for each other. Cole's flamboyant personality was perfectly done, to be genuine and also work as a defence mechanism.
I can't decide if I'm going to start with the Coda Series or go straight to book 2 of SfD... that ending was arghhhhh
I need more asap!
And if like me you had this book for months in your kindle, do not put it off any longer. You are in for a treat.

Review: Lost Time

Lost Time
Lost Time by Parker Williams

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a cute friends to lovers story.
I liked it, but it felt too much like following a recipe.
* BFF´s since childhood - check
* Awkward HS times - check
* Fake Prom Dates - check
* Inevitable drifting apart -check
* Drama and basic misunderstanding - check - And here a separate note, they spoken every day, email back and forward for YEARS, yet after one phone call went wrong Alex didn´t even attempt a short msg saying "Hey u moron u changed your number?... send me your new digits" or something like that.
* Reunion 5 years down the line, all secrets coming clean and great confession of love forever and ever - check
And there you have it, the perfect instructions for a friends to lover story.

#First Impressions #Second Chances
#First Impressions #Second Chances by Heidi Belleau

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was so sweet, funny, cute... a great story of love in modern times.
When we look for approval from our followers instead of our friends, and people on line get to know us better and their opinion sometimes affect us more than they should.
Loved Jonah´s flamboyant personality, so adorable.
And Sam was a total sweetheart too.

Review: King Perry

King Perry
King Perry by Edmond Manning

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There is not much I can say about King Perry that other's haven't said better.
I couldn't help the sob that came out of me by the end of the book, it was like I've been holding it in for far too long.
What I wanted from the book, or what I was expecting from it was far different from what I got.
This book was different, weird, confusing, crazy and unexpected.
But it was also emotional, powerful, life altering.
I couldn't help but compare it to Robert Fisher's The Knight in Rusty Armor, or maybe some of Paulo Coelho's tittles.
Those that you read as entertainment but have a much deeper message.
King Perry broke me and put me back together.
All the feelings, all the tears, all my love.

Review: Merger of Equals

Merger of Equals
Merger of Equals by Liz Winters

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great story from the LHNB event, that you Liz!
I loved the broken MC characterization she did with Jordy, how finding a partner who understands where he is coming from frightens him, how he has to learn to share his demons and have someone beside him that will be patient and understanding.
And Ken, a boy who had to turn into a man far too soon due to some tragic events in his past. He is the perfect partner for Jordy, a young man who knows how important trust is, and can give Jordy all the time and space he needs until he finds himself and is able to open up and love.
The picture prompt is beautiful.

Review: Nor Iron Bars a Cage

Nor Iron Bars a Cage
Nor Iron Bars a Cage by Kaje Harper

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am still out of words to describe this book.
Lyon´s story from his training as a sorcerer, to the abuse under the wraith, to his lonely life. Secluded, scared of his own shadow. Without letting anyone get too close.
Until an old friend appears at his doorstep and starts awakening the man buried inside the hermit.
Tobit is absolutely amazing. Patient, caring, brave, strong. Everything Lyon needs to move forward.
They are on a mission, for the King, to help maybe save their country.
I must say I am not a fan of fantasy and I get confused is AU narratives; but once again it is all in the writer talent.
I was immerse in this world and this time from page one and I devoured every detail in this book.
The mystery, the angst, the preparations for battle, the magic... everything is intriguing and wonderfully developed.
Lyon´s and Tobin´s relationship, how far Lyon can go and how much they can learn from each other. It was beautiful to read.
And if you need any extra encouragement to read it, this story is available to download for free from the MM Romance Group as part of the LHNB event.

Review: Heaven

Heaven
Heaven by C. J. Anthony

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is about a kid, Brian, a little boy whose world turns upside down at the age of 5; and how one of the most confusing days of his life turns out to be the best day, the day he meets his best friend, Joey.

Joey and Brian have been best friends forever, sharing everything, always.

It is sweet to see them growing up, Joey’s personality is like the sun, bright and warm. While Brian shows from early on his shyness and a bit of social awkwardness. They complement each other, all the courage and bravery Brian lacks, Joye makes up for.

With hair, clothes and makeup going from Boy George to Duran Duran, Joey was destined to be a high school outcast. On the other side Brian, always impeccable smart and boy next door looks found himself appointed as HS Queen's King. Not a place he really wanted to be, but he went with the flow and landed a spot with the popular kids.

And here is when the tables turn, when Brian starts to notice that maybe his friend’s looks are like an armour too.

Adolescence is never easy, confusing feelings, mixed messages; and these two BFF have to face that sometimes society puts labels on people, and those are not fair. But they are also reminded of what is important, that looks aren't everything, that friendship can overcome all the adversities and that acceptance comes natural when you open your heart.

If you are a child of the 80’s this is going to be a nice walk down memory lane. Lots of pop culture reference, lots of music... will put a smile on your face.

I really enjoyed reading about these two boys, Joey specially. The changes in his persona, as he found and accepted who he was and what was the meaning of it all.

The openness with which Brian welcomes his friend changes, at first not understanding what they all meant, and even doubting but never judging.

It was a really beautiful coming of age story. So, if you get the chance and want to read from a new author in the genre, you should give Heaven a chance.

I was provided with an ARC from the author.

Review: The One That Got Away

The One That Got Away
The One That Got Away by Rhianne Aile

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I´ve let myself be influenced by bad reviews...and I was reading this book with misconceptions already. WRONG!!!!
And then I got a new kindle, and I left this book in my old one and just this weekend I was able to move the books...and BAM! I went to finish it forgetting about what I´ve read in the reviews and love it!!!
Weird how that happened.
Some of the things that are mentioned on those reviews are true, MCs take off clothes when they are supposedly already naked, get dress when they are already wearing pants, best friends that didn't know each other as best friends should and so on...which coming from DSP you think someone should have caught it; but alas they didn´t.
So, if you can get past that bad start, I almost put it down at 30%, then you´ll discover a sweet, romantic tale of two friends falling in love.
And the premise of the book might be silly, I´m talking about the migraine, followed by the accident causing these two to live together, but it serves a purpose.
These two needed to be under the same roof to be able to see and develop their feelings.

Review: The Zero Knot

The Zero Knot
The Zero Knot by K.Z. Snow

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Because I lay with him...I´ve caught a glimpse of heaven. Or I understand what I need. Or I have the courage to be myself."

Two boys, Jess & Dylan, understanding feelings that have been with them for a long time. Finally acting on them. And Facing the consequences.
This book had a bit of a slow start, but it was all part of the story development.
For both Jess and Dylan, facing who they really are was a hard step to take. And they both have different experience when it actually happens.
They are faced with the decisions that we all face at young age, when we are trying to find our place in the world.
After many misunderstandings, they finally find a way to walk that road together. They trust each other.
I absolutely adored Red, Jess´s younger brother, and his Dad was great too.
But there was something about Red, his view of the situation that was life altering for Jess and Red manage, with his snarky comments, to make it lighter in a way, but not less important.
You´ll get to scene where Jess slaps Red so hard, he regrets it instantly, but that scene was so powerful, I cried for those brothers, their love & connection, so real, amazing.
I couldn´t put it down, I was up until 2am last night, I needed to see Jess & Dylan make it. And be happier, stronger and whole on the other side.

Review: Wake Me Up Inside

Wake Me Up Inside
Wake Me Up Inside by Cardeno C.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cardeno did it again, another brilliant book I couldn´t put down.
When you write paranormal, there are so many things that can go wrong. If you don't do your homework properly you could end up with not a book about shifters but a book about humans who bark at the moon and turn into dogs!
You need research, and you need a background story, legends and a whole subculture to work around.
And that is exactly how Cardeno did it.
For Zev, the future Alpha and leader of the pack, was never about finding a mate it was about timing to let everyone know he found his mate when he was a little over 1 year old, and that said true mate was a boy name Jonah.
A lot of things had to happen before Zev can introduce Jonah as his mate. A long time spend apart from each other that only hurts them both every day.
Secrets, some that are kept to protect the ones they love. Some, that they didn´t even know existed.
And Zev and Jonah, GOD! they are hot together!!! this was like the sexiest thing I´ve read...and they didn´t have sex till after chapter 20 so...yes, amazing! the UST in this book is almost evil, not fair but it serves a purpose.
I can´t wait to read book II, Cardeno got me hooked again...

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I normally, usually, read back to back.
The last time I had to take a break between books was with Into This River I Drown because it left me emotionally exhausted.
Here, again, I have to take a break because Catalyst was so beautiful, so powerful, so raw and real, my head is still spinning.
Full review will be up in HOF soon.
For now, all the feelings, all the stars for this one.

Review: Something Different

Something Different
Something Different by S.A. Reid

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is exactly what I look for in a book, compelling characters, interesting conflicts, not overused cliches or uncalled drama.
Unsatisfied married man, just going through the motions of life, meets rent boy and develop feelings that are so strong and unknown for both of them took them by surprise.
None of them thought that they were still able to feel, to need, to love so much.
Sex, and I'm not just talking about the act, the approach to it was so different for both of them.
Were James found his power and control in his sexuality, Micheal was intrigued and insecure discovering his needs and finding pleasure in something that was so far out of his comfort zone.
I loved everything about this book, a definite favorite.

Review: The F Words

The F Words
The F Words by Anyta Sunday

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A very powerful angsty read.
Once I got over the initial confusion (my fault for reading out of order!) I was able to enjoy Eric´s & Rory´s story.
Just like all the books in the series, there is one event that sets the MCs as enemies to begin with and follows their story into becoming lovers.
In Eric´s and Rory´s case is about self-discovery, forgiveness, grieve, and learn to let go and move on.
Eric was specially patient and sweet. Rory is all his stubbornness was shy and insecure, but finally was able to trust and ask for help.
Lovely, highly recommend it.

Review: Giving an Inch

Giving an Inch
Giving an Inch by Heidi Belleau

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a short, sexy read. 3.5 stars, rounded up.
I was actually expecting more, going by the blurb it felt like it was longer than the actual book.
I have to be honest and say that the texting by mistake was a bit silly to start off, but nothing after that was silly at all.
It´s the perfect short story for those with a voyeurism tendency, and get a kick out of sex in public ;)
The D/s relationship is all in the form of text messages, so the interaction between Carson and James is more in James POV and what he remembers and shares with the readers.
But the dynamic is clear, the attraction strong and Jame´s need to please his Professor is hot.
So yes, go get your fix of risky sex with this great short.

Review: Never a Hero

Never a Hero
Never a Hero by Marie Sexton

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Another novel in the Tucker Springs Universe.
It was a sweet, short story. Not really up to the normal standards for Marie Sexton.
I’ve read a few others of her book that I enjoyed very much.
This one felt like there was a lot to be said, that wasn’t.
We don't get much about the characters, as in background story or depth into their personalities. It felt rushed.
Owen comes from a family with a mother that is miserable and enjoys making everyone else just as miserable as her. Trying to overcome his disability and not letting it define him, he falls in love with his next door neighbour.
Enter Nick, the neighbour, who happens to have his own secret and past demons and you have two broken man trying to help each other be whole.
Like I said it was sweet, but it felt rushed.

Review: Lover At Last

Lover At Last
Lover At Last by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

JR Ward better be writing next book as we speak.
This book was amazing, everything I was waiting and expecting and more, so much more.
The romance, what we were all not so patiently waiting for, is there. There is a lot of miscommunication and stupid male egos getting in the way, but it works, and in the end we get what we wanted.
Like any other BDB book the sup plots are there are maybe take the front stage once or twice during the book but is just the way the author works and writes.
Getting the reader invested in new characters, that will definitely be getting their own book.
I am looking forward to Xcor's book, first because I have mix feelings towards the Bastard, second because his story will be link to Layla (who I finally started to warm up to with this book) and that means we will see more of Qhuinn and Blay.
I want to read more from Assail too, not so much Marisol but...
The Shadows were intriguing too, Trez with the Chosen and iAm, who I think will work really well with Saxton. I want his HEA too.
So much going on...
Yes, I was excited to finally having Blay and Qhuinn together, naked but their story was about so much more.
Qhuinn's need for family, his need to belong somewhere and more importantly to someone that broke my heart. He couldn't get the words out.
But Blay; patient, caring and constant friend Blay, push him and gave him space as he needed. Was there for him and finally gave Qhuinn what he needed the most.
It was so easy to fall back into the Brotherhood world, I can't wait for the next one.

Review: Dirty Laundry

Dirty Laundry
Dirty Laundry by Heidi Cullinan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoy this book. Apparently is an extended version of a free short story that I totally missed.
Adam, is a very interesting character, there is so much to learn about him. He suffers from both OCD and clinical anxiety, making his life a little bit more complicated that the rest of us.
He is describe as shy and geeky, but most of his shyness and awkwardness is due to his insecurities. And not on himself, but the insecurity that comes from having OCD and anxiety controlling his life.
It doesn't help that he had a brat for ex-boyfriend, who instead of helping him with his tics he used them to make him feel even more like a freak, like someone who couldn't stand up for himself.
When he meets Denver, he not only meets a savior, he also meets a Dom.
One that will help him overcome his insecurities, letting go and passing the control over those voices to Denver.
The BDSM elements used here show a different type of dynamic between the MCs, it was a very enlightening read. The way Denver uses his Dom voice not only to pleasure Adam but also to help him take over his fears. Showing him that by letting go and losing control he is actually controlling them through Denver.
Finally learning that Denver is not absolutely flawless adds to the charm. I love alpha males such as Denver, but I also enjoy seeing them as a little less than perfect.
Louisa is a great supporting character, one that was under develop, there is much more to her than what we saw.
Highly recommend it, Heidi Cullinan is a must read on my list.

Review: Icicle

Icicle
Icicle by Natalie Vale

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a lovely story Icicle was, such a pleasant surprise.
Discovering and enjoying a new author is a plus.
Sean is a lost man, he is not completely satisfied with his life and he leaves his town and his lover to go searching for something he feels his life is missing, tho he doesn't know what it is.
On a cold night, almost at the end of his strength and will, Sean is rescued by a mysterious man. A man with secrets and regrets of his own.
A man that in the end will give Sean back his hope and will to live.
But, who is saving who?
Honestly, the emotion, that heart clenching emotion you get from a very well written love scene. A connection that goes beyond words.
I love it when a book can get that reaction from me, and in such a short story as well.
I am looking forward to more from this author.
I don't want to give away the story line or share any spoilers I truly hope you read this lovely romance.

Where He Ends and I Begin
Where He Ends and I Begin by Cardeno C.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

These two, I love them.
Jake, I could marry him, his protectiveness, his jealousy, his macho man attitude...all of it I´ll take it.
But I just couldn´t get past the re telling of events from both POVs, and some other cliches thrown here and there.
Some crucial issues were sorted just like that .
I love the author´s style and the happy feeling of these books.
The Home Series is one of my favorites.
This one was just average.

Review: Breaking Point

Breaking Point
Breaking Point by Shane Brown

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am not sure how this little gem landed on my TBR list but I´m glad it was there.
This is a great YA read.
A book about bullying and homophobia in high school.
The victims, the by standers, the once inflicting the violence, the ones that try to stand up for the kids.
Life and stories that come together creating a great book, dealing with some very difficult issues.
Seeing James and Paul, the two MCs, finding their way back to each other, learning to forgive and forget, overcoming all the difficulties.
Paul being so scared to face who he is and his feelings that ends up fighting the only thing that is real and positive in his life. Victim of his own cowardice.
Watching Mr. Green, the one and only teacher that cares about his pupils even after class has ended.
Jason, the master mind behind the hate, so unsatisfied with his own life that you might be even feel sorry for him at one point.
Luke, the one that gets stuck in between and doesn't even know how to get out of the gang.
And it also covers the parents, the ones that don´t see the signs or don't want to.
It doesn´t get the 5* because of the many edit mistakes, one even confusing the names of the character at the dinner table.

Review: More

More
More by Sloan Parker

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Yes, there was a lot of sex in this one.
And some might said that there was no plot.
For me, even if it wasn't the best book ever written, it was intense, sexy and a very enjoyable read.
I like the author's style, I've read several of her books.
This one was different.
It was all about 3 men finding, in a very unconventional relationship, everything they needed and more.
The story is told from Luke's POV and it's very interesting to see the development from Luke's eyes.
How he grows into the man he can be. How he faces his demons, his father, his fears and learns to trust and love again.
The plot, the drama is pretty basic; the real story in this book is the threesome. And the men that try to make it work.
It's about Richard and his protectiveness and dominant personality.
It's about Matthew and his low self esteem, his laugh, his need to find the right person to share his life with and his positive attitude towards life as a whole.
And it's about Luke, his fears, his past, his father and the way he was used to live his life - running, hiding who he is and who he loves.
All that puts these men together and creates some of the best ménage scenes I read in a very long time. Sexy, hot, intense.

Review: Pressure Head

Pressure Head
Pressure Head by J.L. Merrow

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Well, it was a good book, it just left me with a want for more.
The writing is really good, as always. Nice MCs, with good backgrounds and all.
The murder mystery was interesting and keep you guessing.
But, I couldn´t really get too involved with them.
There were lots of names mix in it, and I didn´t get to care about them all.
I was, maybe, too invest in the love story and the UST to really care about anything else.
And when that UST resolved in one night, it left me with a "that´s it?" kind of feeling.
There was so much more, in my opinion, to talk about, there was a lot that was left unsaid.
I don’t want the story to be delivered in my lap with a red bow but I wish there wasn´t as many loose ends, especially when it comes to the MC´s relationship.

Review: The Flesh Cartel #4: Consequences

The Flesh Cartel #4: Consequences
The Flesh Cartel #4: Consequences by Rachel Haimowitz

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I still don't know where to start.
If you have been following the series you know they are not easy read, but there was something about The Flesh Cartel #4: Consequences that gives and additional sick twist to the whole story.
Good thing I was taking notes as I was reading, because honestly this book was just too much.
It hurt, but in a complete different way. It was not about pain or abuse anymore, it was about angst. Heart clenching angst.
Nikolai, evil mofo extraordinaire. I hate him. But I see his goal, and how he needs to find a way to achieve it.
He must find a hole in Mat and Dougie´s loyalty to each other.
He plays the mind games with Dougie, shame, guilt trips that put any Italian Mother to shame.
And works on the big brother complex with Mat. Matty will do anything, accept any punishment on him, as long as he can spare Dougie the pain.
And still is not working, he can't break them apart.
He can´t make them submit to Nikolai´s desires.
Even when they haven´t seen each other in so long, everything they do and tolerate is because of that brotherly love. To ensure the other one doesn't have to suffer anymore.
This 4th installment is not like the other books, is not just about physical domination, is all about psychological submission.
Nikolai knows the bond between the brothers is his greatest challenge. And finally understands it as it is.

“Do you have it in you to throw the match, Mathias?”

Mat thought about that for a moment, but he already
knew the answer. “For me? No. M’not strong like Dougie—
not strong enough to give shit up like that justa save my ass.
But for him? Yes. For Dougie.” He snorted with sudden
laughter. “For Dougie’s ass.”

Make no mistake, the suffering is still there so take the warnings very seriously.

Review: Trick of Time

Trick of Time
Trick of Time by J.L. Merrow

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I requested this book because of the author, [a:J.L. Merrow|2980235|J.L. Merrow|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1265681533p2/2980235.jpg] won me over with [b:Muscling Through|11045338|Muscling Through|J.L. Merrow|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327900692s/11045338.jpg|15966033] last year and since them I´m a huge fan.
The blurb was interesting but it didn´t catch my attention.
Was I wrong? What an amazing story this turn out to be.
Our MC Ted is still grieving the loss of his partner and parents in a car accident over a year ago. He works for a theater in Piccadilly Circus has normal average life. Until one evening he goes out for a cigarette and finds himself in Victorian London.
The time travel situation is key for this book, while in another time he meets a rent boy, Jem, who turns out to be much more than just that.
Jem gives Ted the comfort and human contact Ted needs and craves, is sweet and tender and cares for Ted.
In his time Ted is a loner and Jem sees right through it.
Ted finds a way to come back move between the present and the past, talk to Jem, get to know him and spend the night when he is unable to return to the theater in time and back to his reality.
I absolutely love the concept. I care for these characters, I wanted them to be able to be together and I wasn´t sure if it was going to work.
Jem comes from a different time and is very naive despite his experience on the streets. But he manages to rescue Ted and bring him back to life, with that patience and tenderness that you don’t expect from a boy in his line of work.
I highly recommend this book if you like Historical Fiction. It is so descriptive, it´s amazing.

Review: Love Is In The Title

Love Is In The Title
Love Is In The Title by R.J. Scott

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

awwwww, such a sweet story.
Back to when falling in love was easy as breathing.
The shy nerd guy falling for the jock team captain.
A best friend that is key to the whole thing, not just a witness.
And two boys kissing in the dark.
I must read the next book now!

Review: Double Blind

Double Blind
Double Blind by Heidi Cullinan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I don´t think I loved Ethan and Randy as much as I loved Sam and Mitch but it was a great story anyway.
The poker talk, game talk, casino was hard to follow at times, but it was one of the things that made this book interesting.
How life is completely related to poker, I never thought about it but it makes sense, especially for Ethan and Randy.
There is a lot going on in the bedroom too, ups and downs, D/s and switch all well plotted and developed. All sexy and tastefully done.
Randy losing his face, Ethan finding what or better WHO he was supposed to be. Even Crabtree served his purpose, and you cannot dislike the guy in the end. His mind games are always one step ahead of any of the participants.
But still if Sam or Mitch were in the room, my attention was on them.
And I wish I got that particular night the 4 of them are together from Sam´s POV, he has in my opinion the best voice of them all.

Review: The One Who Saves Me

The One Who Saves Me
The One Who Saves Me by Cardeno C.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I still have that happy feeling inside, the same every [a:Cardeno C.|4620386|Cardeno C.|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1305677504p2/4620386.jpg]book leaves me with.
First, I´m going to comment on the first thing that caught my attention to this author, her book covers. And especially this one, I think it´s absolutely gorgeous, and it also portraits the characters just like I picture them in my mind while reading.
I guess, the one thing I love the most about the book is the same that most of the people dislike about it...the format, and the way the story was told.
Some may argue that is a list of events and hook ups between them, but they are so much more than that. Is the way we get to meet the characters and their background.
It´s very unique and original (at least for me) the whole story is told with one main event each year, in which both characters are together for different reasons.
We meet Andrew "Drew" and Caleb "Cae" at the young age of 14, when they start to build their friendship, when it´s all about spending time together, having fun, getting to know each other and share that week together every summer.
As they grew older, early 20´s they both acknowledged their sexuality and their relationship turns into a stage of discovering, exploring. Who else to trust than your best friend? So they share their firsts with each other.
Somehow along the way it turn to be a constant in their lives, as time goes by, they know that as long as none of them is in a relationship they can count on each other. Not just for sex, but friendship, comfort.
They are the one and only constant. Boyfriends come and go, Drew and Cae are still together and strong; but still calling it a friendship.
For some is impossible to believe there can be two people as emotionally blind as these characters, for me it was just the way everything change without them even knowing.
How comfortable that change was, and how there wasn´t any doubt about it once they see their feelings clearly.
I wish there was at least one tiny little Epilogue. I wish I could see them happy together together.
I love Cae´s sense of humor, though I would have him rolling his eyes a bit less. And Drew is just adorable in all his intelligence, he is so fragile inside.
I can´t have enough of Cardeno´s books.

Review: Last Stop

Last Stop
Last Stop by Lou Harper

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Highly addictive! I couldn´t put it down.
Never knowing what was coming next, and praying for a break for Jay & Sam.
The mystery, the mafia background, everything was nicely built and very believable.
The chasing, the running away, Jay´s attitude and Sam´s reservations. It all fit nicely into the story.
The relationship between them is one that takes long to built, even if they have sex on the same day they meet. Is the trust, and the romance what falls into the slow burn category.
And watching Sam finally letting go of his fears and ghosts is beautiful.

Review: I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier

I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier
I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier by Crystal Rose

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

AMAZING!!!!
What can I add to all the positive things that were said about this book?
The author shapes a great story, mixing the military reality of training, deployment, injures and recovery with a secondary love story that will leave you breathless.
I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier follows the life of four boys that meet in their early twenties when they join the US Army.
As they go through basic training they built a relationship that goes beyond friendship, they become family - a bond stronger than anything else any of them knows.
Over the years, several deployments, addictions, loss, love, they experience it all together. They are there for each other, even during their hardest times.
I´m not going to spoil it for you but the whole chapter from the moment Mark gets the knock on his door is heartbreaking.
I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier is funny, engaging, angsty, sexy...everything.
And you, my fellow female friends, will find the female characters in this book so easy to relate to LOL and they will be speaking for you.
During the times they spend apart the author chooses to use emails as a way for them to communicate with each other, I absolutely love them.
Mrs. Crystal Rose, I´m ready for more when you are.

Review: Aiden's Luck

Aiden's Luck
Aiden's Luck by Con Riley

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I took some time after finishing the book, before rating it.
If you´ve read my updates, it wasn´t an easy book for me to finish. It was not supposed to be a burden but it felt like it.
Then why did I read it? Well, first because I loved the first two books in the series.
Second because I really think the author is very talented and I enjoy her writing.
And last but not least, I read it because of Marco, and that was the best part of this book.
I couldn´t relate to Aiden, his attitude towards life and his way of dealing with the mess his life was didn´t feel real at all.
If I have to give him one thing is that even though he took the responsibility to care for his family he never, ever complain or felt like a victim.
In his mind it just make sense, it was his duty. But there was just too much unnecessary drama.
The lack of communication felt just as an excuse to his behavior.
It had the potential to be a favorite but the going round and round in circles without solving anything got tiring in the end.
So much that not even the sex was good.
Aiden´s and Marco´s relationship, their connection was strong; you could feel their love but it was totally MIA in the sex scenes, the intimacy lost.
Marco, I wish he was real. Extremely supportive, caring lover and friend, and the best thing that could ever happen to Aiden.
Maybe the last third of the book got better; we finally made some progress with Aiden and got to tied up some loose ends. But it wasn´t enough to turn it into a great book.
